Maraschino Cherries

The goal of the Maraschino Cherries’ art direction is to capture the hardness and vulnerability of dealing with substance abuse as a family, in contrast to how it is seen through a child’s eyes. Our major locations are the garden and cafeteria of an inpatient rehab facility in Southeast Georgia. The rehab facility is a campus built around a historic, rehabilitated plantation house. The house has been fixed up to the best of its ability with public funding, and the garden sits at the back of the restored building. The garden is where most of our story takes place, and the only part of the facility that the young granddaughter experiences.
